Janis is a Canadian teacher who has taught second-language students for 20 years. Having taught in China for 13 years, Janis has extensive EAL teaching experience. Janis has held numerous administrative, teaching, and curriculum development positions from kindergarten to University. Living and teaching throughout China has allowed Janis to develop a strong understanding of Mandarin Chinese, Chinese culture, and the Chinese educational system.

This is Janis's 5th year with SCCSH and her 10th year as a Grade 1 teacher in Chinese International schools. Janis is currently studying towards her Master's Degree in Advanced Teaching at the primary school level. It is Janis’s continued belief that students who develop a love of learning English in the first grade will have the confidence to achieve great success in their language studies.
