In her first year at SCCS and in China, Chelsea Troke contributes a fresh perspective to the teaching team. Originally from Victoria, Canada, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of Victoria in 2022, with a focus on second language acquisition. She also holds a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Prior to joining SCCSH, she spent a year teaching high school English Language Arts in Mongolia. She has also taught in Canada, aiding newly arrived immigrants in improving their speaking skills. She is excited to build upon these experiences while teaching 11th- and 12th-grade English here at SCCSH.

Central to Chelsea’s teaching philosophy is the cultivation of an inclusive, student-centred classroom environment where students are engaged in meaningful learning. She encourages her students to cultivate curiosity, seek understanding, and practice reflection. By nurturing these qualities, students are empowered not only for academic success but also to become effective lifelong learners.

In addition to her teaching, her interests encompass exploring new destinations, learning languages (e.g., French, Korean, and now Mandarin), and hiking—embracing experiential learning and personal growth. She is excited to contribute her skills and enthusiasm to SCCSH, ensuring that every student's journey is both educational and meaningful.
